DS Zèro, ISD (2011)
Introduction
During my time at PSA, I became the self appointed SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Alternative Mobility Solutions.
I was able to set-up and run a number of great projects and this project was undertaken with the excellent school ISD (Institut Superieur de Design) in Valenciennes, France.
Two mixed teams of Designers and Digital Designers worked on the project.
Many thanks to the students, faculty and staff for the great work produced, with special thanks to Pino Cazzetta and Mike Levy who instructed both teams.
Great thanks also to Stéphan Strouven and Richard Thore for giving their time to help with the clay models and to Chris Cadman for his input, support and critique.
*The work shown here was done before EMD was created, but I am showing this project to primarily thank the students for their excellent work, forward thinking and collaboration.
The excellent work shown here perfectly represents EMD's philosophies and vision.
The Brief
Imagined for 2030, where the urban context has dramatically changed and new ways to travel have been imagined.
The vehicle is to seat one or two passengers (maybe more) and their possessions.
It is have a zero emissions drive train and can explore new package and structural concepts.
It must also uphold the premium values of the DS-Brand albeit on an ultra compact package.
Future thinking about technology use and social interaction was to be considered.
Course Structure
ISD has a very well structured course layout with three key gateways, RP1, RP2 and RP3. Each “Revue Projet” or Project Revue covers a certain stage of the project.
RP1=Analysis and research
RP2=Creative ideas
RP3=Development of concept chosen at the RP2 presentation.
